On my culinary adventure around the Tottenham Court Road area, I was treated to a meal at Union Jacks. The head of our department took us out for lunch last week to celebrate the arrival of new comers and birthdays and I was very surprised by exactly what was held within its quirky exterior.
Before entering the glass frontage, you can see American diner style notice boards, miss-matched furniture and a large counter. Before visiting, I always thought it was a burger joint but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it’s actually a British themed pizzeria.
With homemade drinks like pink cola (which is amazing) and unusual pizza topping like pork scratchings and apple sauce it’s a really fun menu offering things you won’t find anywhere else. And the food actually lives up to the expectations. I tried the Red-Ox and a slice of the Woodman and both were flavourful, unusual and ridiculously high quality.
It’s not the cheapest place you will visit in the area but it is worth it for the pink cola alone.
