A question for all you ladies (and gents)

Just a quick one today. I periodically sort through and organise my makeup. I rarely throw any of it away but I think to see what I have and to tidy it up. Today I realised just how many similar items I have. I have included pictures of most of my nail polish collection and some of my lipstick and lipgloss collection. As you can see, I have hundreds upon hundreds of products. And it made me think, do I need them all? Continue reading

Poor service and poor humour: my fun night at The Breakfast Club and watching Iron Sky

So, it happened again. Yeah, I had another attack on Tuesday but seeing as I know what it is now and that I was on my own I didn’t go to the hospital this time. I’m feeling a lot better now and I took yesterday off to rest and have a night with moon nazis – wait! Don’t judge me yet. It will all make sense shortly. Because of my health and general lack of enthusiasm recently, I’ve not got the greatest skin (my medication has really made it look quite haggard) and I’ve not been wearing makeup so I’ll be posting a few non-beauty posts while that sorts itself out. Today will be one such post and I will be telling you about my evening at The Breakfast Club and I’ll give you a brief review of the film Iron Sky – I told you not to judge me about the nazi thing. It’s been one of those weeks but Get Taxi helped me in my hour of need

Good morning readers. Sorry for my absence the past few days but it happened again. Yes, unfortunately I became ill again and was in and out of the doctors for a few days and ended up in hospital on Saturday. But the good news is that everything that’s happening has started to make sense and as I’m sure you all know, things are easier to deal with when you know why and what is happening. But I digress. Going to the hospital again actually gave me an opportunity to try something that I’d been contacted about a while ago. It’s a new(ish) app that makes ordering a taxi super easy. Continue reading

The perfect eye duo from Eve Lom

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been noticing the early signs of ageing. My primary issue has been fine lines around my eyes. They’re not too noticeable but due to where they are they can make me look a little tired, pronounce my dark circles (a new addition too) and I’ve noticed that my makeup has started to crease in the area. With this in mind I’ve been testing out some eye creams and the first two are from EVE LOM. Continue reading

One day my prince will come… oh look! He has!

Due to recent events, our wedding planning hasn’t been going how we were hoping. I know we’ve only been engaged for little over two weeks but I have a little gremlin in my head that insists that I need to start getting organised. So this week I will start a new Tumblr account to document all the pretty pictures that inspire me and I will use my blog to outline potential themes etc. Recently, I have been experiencing a bit of a Snow White complex. Maybe it’s the pale skin or the ruby red lips I’ve been sporting or just the fact that I’ve been watching Once Upon a Time and reading Grimms’ Fairytales – whatever it is, there’s something there. So my first potential theme is: Snow White. Continue reading

My week with cats: an introduction to Eat, Sleep, Sniff

I have been trapped in the house this week. It’s not a status I find too distressing; I have Twitter to keep me company and a little fluffy beast of a cat to cuddle. I’m not just being antisocial or a bit of a hermit. Last weekend’s trip to the hospital really took it out of me and after trying to live a normal life on Monday, I realised that that wasn’t going to happen unless I rested. I am still covered in bruises (I honestly look like I’ve been beaten) and my kidney infection is still causing me a lot of grief but I have been trying to keep my spirits up. Continue reading

My dry skin saviour

I have mentioned before that I get terribly dry skin on my hands. Between the bad weather, my obsessive hand washing and just general dry skin, my hands often look like they are covered in scales and aren’t very pretty. I have tried everything to get my hands in good condition again. Some creams work, some don’t and seeing as I have just got engaged, I thought I should break out the big guns to really show off my sparkler.  Continue reading

My first experience with Housebites

We all have times when we can’t or don’t want to cook. Due to my recent health issues, cooking isn’t very high on my priority list this week. But saying that, I’m not fond of the idea of eating ready meals and takeaways and pretty much just eating junk all week. With this in mind I thought I’d give Housebites a go. I had heard quite a bit about them and I really liked the concept so we ordered our dinner from them last night.

China Glaze Hunger Games Collection: Harvest Moon

If you remember my last nail polish post, you’ll know that I have been exploring the China Glaze Hunger Games Collection that I purchased from Buyapowa. So far I have shown you Stone Cold and Lush and Luxe with a sneak peak at a couple others. It may have been a while since my last post about them but there’s a good reason why (other than my recent hospital visit). I recently tried out Harvest Moon and it lasted for 10 days. Continue reading

A lost weekend and the Cosmo blog awards

Hello my lovelies. I apologise for being so quiet the past few days but I have a good reason. Where last weekend was full of happy excitement and celebration, this weekend I ended up in hospital. Yes. Exactly six months since the last time I was in hospital, I saw myself push through the doors of A&E but this time with crippling pains, repetitive vomiting (apologies for the graphic detail) and uncontrollable shaking. No, it wasn’t a hangover as I rarely drink but it was quite a scary time. I have had similar pains before but none that have woken me up in the middle of the night and only worsened over 15 hours despite the eight different intravenous painkillers I had pumped into me. Turns out I had a kidney blockage leading to inflamed, infected kidneys. I was so grateful that it was just an infection. I spent some time in the hospital on many different drugs and now I feel a lot better (not completely but getting there) and taking a bucket load of pills three times a day. Continue reading
